Q: How do I obtain a copy of a traffic crash or boating accident report?
A: A request for a traffic crash report can be made
using the Request for Traffic Crash Report form. It needs to be in writing
and can be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Traffic Records Division
- Traffic Crash Reports, P. O. Box 568, Jefferson City, MO 65102 or to the
troop headquarters from the jurisdiction where the crash was investigated.
A request for a boating accident report can be made using
the Request for Boating Accident Report form. It needs to be in writing
and should be sent to the Missouri State Highway Patrol Traffic Records
Division - Boating Reports, P. O. Box 568, Jefferson City, MO 65102.
Q: Is there a charge for reports?
A: Yes. The cost for a copy of a Patrol investigated traffic crash or boating accident report is $3.75 per four-page report.
Additional fees apply for copies of reports of reconstructed
crashes or accidents, photographs, certified copies of reports, photographs,
crash data retrieval (CRD) electronic information, computer disk (CD) copies
and electronic mapping data. Contact the Traffic Records Division at General
Headquarters (573) 526-6113 to get actual costs BEFORE sending any funds.
Payment must be made by check or money order only (no cash) and must be made payable to: DPS - Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Q: Can I fax my request?
A: Fax requests will only be accepted from
law enforcement agencies at fax telephone number (573) 751-9921. All other
requests for reports are to be sent in writing along with the associated fees.
Q: Can I pay by credit card?
A: No. All fees must be paid by check or money order made payable to: DPS - Missouri State Highway Patrol.
