BASIC ENTRY TACTICAL OFFICER
- May 4-9, 2014
Prerequisite: Patrol members; must be currently assigned to SWAT or sponsored by a Troop SWAT team. There are no prerequisites for outside agencies.
Course Description: This course is designed to teach the student the fundamentals of operating within a tactical entry team. During the course the student will learn:
Pre Raid Planning Deliberate and Dynamic Entry Techniques
Breaching Tools and Techniques Noise Flash Distraction Device Use
Less Lethal Options (12 gauge and 40mm) Ballistic Shield Use
Team Movement Overcoming Obstacles
Officer Down Training Safety
Tactical Handgun Tactical Rifle
This is a dynamic and fast paced, physically demanding class, with minimal down time and long hours. There is a minimum expected class time of 62 hours during the week. Training will be primarily conducted off campus, with some meals being in the field. The training schedule is flexible based on the demands of the class. However, training will be conducted regardless of the weather, so plan equipment and uniform needs accordingly. A list of required and suggested equipment is available from the Academy upon request.
Tuition/Registration Fees: Registration fees are due by the first day of class. If fees are not paid in full prior to completion of class, certificates and continuing education hours will not be issued unless payment is received.
