Courses of Instruction

  • October 20-22, 2014

Prerequisite: This is an intensive three-day course designed for graduates of the Missouri State Highway Patrol firearms instructor school.  Marginal shooters should not apply for this school. This course is not designed to teach an officer how to shoot or manipulate a submachine gun, but rather how to instruct others to shoot and perform the manipulations.  It should be noted that this is a physically demanding course requiring running, jumping, calisthenics, and shooting from various positions, not limited to only standing, kneeling, and prone.

In order to obtain an instructor certificate, students must have a minimum score of 90% on each testing phase (sub-machine gun qualification and final written examination).  A student completing the course but failing to meet the qualification standards will not receive a certificate. Chief executive officers of attending students are requested to ensure those students can meet the minimum qualifications. Prospective students can contact the Academy to obtain a copy of the rifle qualification course of fire.  Please list all weapon systems that will be used when enrolling in this course.  You must be a graduate of the Missouri State Highway Patrol Firearms Instructor School.

NOTE:  Students exhibiting unsafe firearms handling during the course will be requested to leave.
