Colonel J. Bret Johnson’s Message To Our Citizens

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is dedicated to providing service and protection to the citizens and visitors of Missouri. As superintendent, I will strive to employ and retain a diverse workforce of motivated, professional employees by maintaining high standards for performance. I will strive to foster a positive and productive work environment for our employees and those we serve. As a team, we will continue to provide services in a courteous and professional manner, treating everyone with respect and compassion.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol will remain vested in the communities in which we serve and live. Our service and enforcement efforts are grounded in the value placed on diversity and inclusion, as we work to reflect the demographics of our state. We will remain steadfast in our display of the Patrol motto of "ladies and gentlemen who enforce the law." While striving to improve safety and reduce crime in Missouri, our core values will serve as the foundation.

I will work to ensure all employees are provided with technologies, equipment, and training designed to enhance safety and efficiencies. Our use of technologies will be utilized in a secure manner, protecting the privacy of all citizens to the maximum extent possible.

The public trusts our department to keep our roadways, waterways, and communities safe. Throughout my term as superintendent, I pledge to provide the highest level of service to the citizens of Missouri, holding all employees accountable to our high standards.
