Nearly 70 years ago the communications division with the Missouri State Highway Patrol was formed when several radio operators were hired to operate the newly installed radio systems at troop buildings around the state. By 1939, 24 operators were appointed to maintain the 24-hour communications system. With the same tradition of yesteryear, our communications division maintains and operates a 24-hour communications system located throughout the state to handle the ever-growing load. This system works in conjunction with state, county, and local agencies in coordinating emergency and non-emergency communications. Although the Patrol has many strengths making it an internationally accredited law enforcement organization, the communications division takes great pride in knowing our radio personnel rank among the best. Work within the communications division is never dull and each day brings new situations. Our operators come from diverse backgrounds and the division strives to enable growth in interests such as training and electronics. |
