Professional Standards Division - History

The primary function of the Professional Standards Division is to ensure the integrity of the Patrol and its personnel through a comprehensive and objective process of investigating allegations of employee misconduct.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is dedicated to the enforcement of the laws, rules, and regulations which provide for the public's safety, security, and well being. Missouri State troopers are carefully selected and given the best training in order to meet the Patrol's mission. The Professional Standards Division (PSD) is the guardian of the department's reputation. In that respect, members assigned to PSD are dedicated to the PSD goal of properly responding to all allegations of misconduct through detailed investigations.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is interested in the welfare of all persons and in taking action where its employees have proven derelict in their duties. Citizens initiating misconduct complaints can be assured their complaint will be given a thorough and fair investigation.
